COAS charges Short Service Cadets on honesty, efficient administration of soldiers

Lt.-Gen. Farouk Yahaya, has charged Cadets of the Direct Short Service Course 26 Army, and 1Direct Regular Course 30 of the Nigerian Airforce on honesty and efficient management of resources and soldiers that would be under their command.

Farouk gave the charge at a regimental dinner in honor of the passing out Cadets on Thursday in Kaduna.

He said the Cadets, being professionals in their respective specialisations needed to bring to bear the skills and knowledge they acquired from their various institutions into effective discharge of their duties when commissioned as officers in the respective services.

He said doing so would be a plus to enable the services continue to record successes in their daily engagements across units, formations and various corps of the services.

Yahaya further explained to the passing out Cadets the core values of the military which included parsiverance, truthfulness, loyalty, courage, respect for other, integrity, among others which he said formed the bases of military training.

“When the cadets have all this basic rudiments inside them, and molded to survive anywhere, they can excel and reach the promise land.

“When they couple all the tenets along side other core values of discipline, dedication and committment, then it is rest assured that they will achieve greatness and make glories for the country,”he said

Yahaya explained that the regimental dinner was a tradition in the military accompanied by invitation of senior officers who speak to the passing out Cadets in order to mold them, in furtherance to setting them on the right path as they become officers.

He acknowledged the high standard and improved training of the NDA as reflected in the cadets who would be commissioned on 17 December to join their other compatriots in preserving the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

He urged them to sustain and maintain the tempo of mastery of weapon handling, mental alertness, tactical stamina among other basic battle rudiments to enable them handle the challenges their future assigned tasks would bring .

Gamji reporters, reports that the Direct Short Service cadre is designed for specialists such as; doctors, nurses, engineers and the likes whose expertise the military needs in its discharge of responsibilities.
