Excercise Ubiak Isin: AFCSC distributes palliative, offers medical outreach to host community

Jaji (Kaduna State), Dec.4, 2023(NAN) The Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji, Kaduna State, on Sunday distributed palliative and offered medical outreach to their host community, amidst conduct of the final phase of ‘Exercise Ubiak Isin’ for junior course 94.

The Bi-annual exercise is organised to assess students understanding of Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Operations.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the food items distributed to Wusono, Unguan Lauya, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna, a host community of the AFCSC, included bags of rice, beans, maize, tomato pastes, and vegetable oil.

Also distributed to the community were treated mosquito nets and mattresses, while blood pressure and suger level checks, among others in the medical outreach category was offered to the community, all as part of the college’s corporate social responsibility.

Addressing newsmen during the excercise, the Commandant of the AFCSC, AVM Olurotimi Tuwase explained that the exercise was aimed at evaluating the students on the practical aspects of what they learnt in class in collaboration with sister security agencies.

Tuwase, represented by the College Director of Logistics, Cmdr. Promise Dappa, he disclosed that the exercise comprised of combat phase, planning operations and execution, gun attack among others.

He expressed satisfaction over the performance of the students, stressing that they demonstrated clear understanding of what they learnt while in class.

The Commandant assured Nigerians that with the training acquired by the students, they were better equipped to confront all forms of security challenges bedevilling the country.

He urged the general public to always avail security agencies with timely and credible information to enable them carry out their duty effectively.

The Ward Head of Wusono, Alhaji Sani Ussaini, thanked the military for the humanitarian support.

He said they would continue providing useful information that would aid security in their environs.

Also, Musa Lado, the village head of Unguwan Lauya in Wusono area, also thanked the military for the kind gesture and unrelenting provision of security at their environment.

He said the medical services and food items would go along way in cushioning the economic shocks some of them are facing due to state of the economy.

NAN reports that other agencies who participated in the exercise included the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), as well as the Red Cross.
