Civil Military Cooperation: COAS inaugurates projects in Kaduna community

In the spirit of fostering relationship between the civil community and the military, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Farouk Yahaya, on Saturday commissioned some projects at Doka  district, Kaduna North Local Government Area of the state.

Gamji Reporters, reports that the projects commissioned were six solar powered boreholes at Maiburji, Gaji, Shaba and Liman wards , all located at the Doka district of Kaduna metropolis.

Other projects commissioned were renovated examination hall equipped with 500 chairs and desks at Nurul Islam Academy, and chairs/desks donated to Shehu Abdullahi Primary School, Ogbomosho road.

Yahaya, represented by the Commander Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Victor Ezugwu, said his leadership was fully aware of the high level of  cooperation and goodwill it enjoy from Nigerian citizens, particularly the people of Kaduna State.

“Infact, it is on record

that so many of your sons and daughters have contributed immensely to the development of not only the Nigerian Army, but the nation at large,”he said.

He added that the Nigerian Army has over the years taken deliberate steps towards ensuring that it gives back to the society the cooperation it enjoyed  from  them by carrying out some corporate 

responsibilities. 

Yahaya noted that it was  very much in line with his vision of a “Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned

Missions within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria”.

“In pursuance of this vision, I have ensured that we pay very close

attention to the non-kinetic aspects of our operations. 

“In this respect, the need to ensure that senior officers of the Nigerian Army are connected to their various communities in order to enhance civil military cooperation as well as winning their hearts and minds in support of our operations,”he said.

According to him, the special interventions projects reinforces the civil-military cooperation

drive of the Nigerian Army geared towards bridging the communication gap between the citizens and their Army.

“Nigerian Army has  enjoyed tremendous support and cooperation of the good people of Kaduna State in surmounting the challenges of

insecurity in the country,”Yahaya said.

The Army Chief further said that the Nigerian Army in conjunction with

other security agencies were working assiduously to rid the country of criminal activities and all forms of insecurity facing it.

He said the projects being commissioned were some of the several

Civil-Military Cooperation related activities and quick impact projects

executed in various parts of the country by the Nigerian Army towards

contributing to national development. 

“I believe this project will

serve the collective needs of the members of this community and its

immediate environs,”he said.

He appeal to the community to see the

project as a symbol of friendship between them and the Nigerian Army, by letting it foster the desired peace, progress and bring prosperity to the community as well.

He thanked President Buhari for his continuous support to the Nigerian Army, and the Government of Kaduna state for it’s relentlessness in ensuring the wellbeing of it’s citizens.

Yahaya urged the community to continue living in peace and harmony, and be tolerant of one another.

Earlier, Maj.-Gen. Sulaiman Idris, the Commander Armoured  Corps of the Nigerian Army and the projects executor who also comes from the Doka community, said he undertook the projects with support of COAS in order to give back to his society.

He explained that  considering education being the basis

under which many societies develop, necessitated his idea to provide qualitative education to younger ones by improving the infrastructure that were available in the schools.

Idris added that  the basic reguirements of man was food, shelter and a mate to  reproducte, which water was part of food and essentially for 

development and growth of mankind, hence the need for portable water

to the society. 

“To assist the Governments at various levels to provide this important needs of life, I felt it is necessary to provide water for my

community hence the construction of the solar powered boreholes at

Maiburuji, Gaji, Liman, and Shaba wards of Doka,”he said.

He urged the community to take good care of the facilities and ensure they are adequately maintained.

He thanked the COAS for  financial support for 

executing the projects in the community.
