One Female, One Position, Kaduna APC Women Leader Tells Aspirants

Ahead of party primaries, Women Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) Kaduna State, Hajiya Maryam Suleiman has advocated the need for consensus candidates to widen chances of female aspirants.

Hajiya Sulaiman made the call in a meeting with all female aspirants under APC to streamline the number of women seeking elective positions.

The Women Leader fondly called Mairusau by admirers expressed fears that high number of women aspirants contesting for one elective position at primaries would give men more advantage to win.

She said ” it is politically expedient at this material time that women contestants agree on consensus candidates among themselves so they will increase their chances at the primaries.

” It is not wise to have many women challenging men for a single position in an election.

” Because, I believe it will give men more chances to win and occupy elective seats at the detriment of women.

” As you are all aware We are blessed with a governor with passion to ensure more women occupy political offices in Kaduna state.

” That’s the reason we are the only state in the north with a female deputy governor and almost half of political appointments occupied by women.

” We must therefore work in consonance with the principle of Governor Nasiru elRufai of having more women in Governance, she preached.

The Women Leader assured all female consensus aspirants of her material and moral supports before, during and after the primaries.

A female Kaduna Central Senatorial aspirant Rabi Salisu Ibrahim commended efforts of Mairusau in her quest to maximise chances of women in elective positions, saying the strategy of having consensus was the only way out at the primaries.

The Senatorial aspirant counselled all female contestants to yield the advice of Mairusau for overall interest of women in Kaduna state.
