As we all know the Arewa Youth Elites Initiative is no longer a new household name in the North and one of our constitutional mandate is to ensure an enabling environment for all and sundry irrespective of political, religious or tribal affiliation.
Late Sardauna of Sokoto and premier of Northern Nigeria, Late Sir Tafawa Balewa worked in the interest of Northern Nigeria irrespective of tribe or religion. As we all know, all religious faith preaches love, equity, justice and fairness to all devoid of any personal sentiments.
The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) has gone through thick and thin. It was founded by Alhaji Sir, Ahmadu Bello Sardauna of Sokoto in 1960. Subsequently, it was transferred to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1969.The Board has undergone series of positive transformation.
Firstly, as a Board for the Northern part of Nigeria only with few Schools and Colleges under its tutelage. Currently, with the recognition and approval of National Council on Education (NCE) at its 57th meeting held at Sokoto in February, 2011, the Board as a National Examination and Regulatory Body covers
the whole Nation with over 900 recognized schools and colleges which is attributed to the hard work, perseverance and dedication of Prof Shafi’u.
A definition of Prof. A Shafi’u is fairness, equity and justice to all. On his assumption into office as Registrar, several distractive mechanisms were put into play masterminded by selfish, gullible and shallow minded fellows in the name of concerned individuals who have sought for personal aggrandizement or favors and was declined because it was contrary to the law. They ganged and felt the best way to take revenge was to antagonize him and get him distracted from executing developmental projects which was never done by and sister institutions which has the same mandate as NBAIS.
Prof Shafiu is the bedrock and pillar of the institution since 1988 till date which has recorded tremendous success of over 8000 students, 800 centers and 200 faculties. This we say kudos to Wakilin Makarantan Zazzau.
With the time, energy and technical expertise put into the development of NBAIS for 33years to where it is today as a full fledged Board, we wont allow detractors wake up from the blues to malign the good name of Prof. Shafi’u which he has built over time.
Today, we are proud to say that we took interest in investigating the acclaimed accusations of some media outlets who are been used by some invisible elements and we say that we shall not allow such fellows gain cheap popularity by using the name of a renowned man of integrity like Wakilin Makarantan Zazzau.
We shall stand firm to protect the name of any Northern stakeholder who has contributed immensely to the development of Northern Nigeria.
We must say that the academic acumen and administrative experience of the Professor and Islamic Scholar is superb as Prof Shafi’u rose through the ranks of his academic careers to a Professor that he is today.
You would agree with me that over 30 years of academic promotion, hard work and administrative responsibilities viz-a-viz academic growth is more than enough to earn a the position of a Chief Executive in any Institution.
We say no to intimidation, distraction, miscreants and shallow mindedness.
Our call today is for all and sundry be it individuals or groups to stay away from fomenting trouble and causing distractions in National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies as we as a Northern body would not hesitate to expose any group trying to destabilize the peace of any Institution in Northern Nigeria.
Power is in the hand of the Almighty and I say today that as they have failed in other institutions previously so shall they fail again and again and again.
