….As he paid his sixth visit to the Theatre of Operation LAFIYA DOLE
The Chief of Army Staff ( COAS), Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru has reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to the focus of Operation LAFIYA DOLE which is total annihilation of Boko Haram Terrorists from Nigeria. He made the revelation on Thursday 29 April 2021 in Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri during his sixth operational visit to the theatre.
Lt Gen Attahiru said his constant touch with troops and their commanders in the field is of essence for any military operations adding that the aim is to reassure the troops and interact with them on issues like logistics and deployment.
He assure them of President Muhammadu Buhari readiness to support their operations with all needed resources. ” President and Commander in Chief is aware of all your doings here, he will do his best to provide needed resources to execute this war to a logical conclusion. This is not just in this theatre but any other theatre Nigerian Army is operating” he said.
“The Commander in Chief is with you all the time, ready to support you. You will soon get to know the kind of support am talking about” he added.” He implore the troops of regular rotation and re- strategizing the operation. Gen Attahiru thereafter visited recuperating wounded in action troops at 7 Division Hospital.
The COAS commended to Theatre Commander, officers and soldiers for their doggedness and focus to defeat Boko Haram Terrorists. He reminded them of the importance of synergy with all stakeholders in the operation emphasizing the need for incorporating Air Component in every aspect of the operation.
Earlier, the Theatre Commander, Maj Gen Farouk Yahaya thanked the COAS for his constant touch with the theatre and ready to address logistics requests for successful operations. He noted the COAS had visited the theatre more than five times since his appointment in Febuary 2021.
