The Chairman Northern Speakers Forum, Speaker Kaduna state House of Assembly RT Hon. Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani on Friday condoled with Adamawa state Government, family , and friends on the demise of Dr Mahmud Tukur, former minister of Commerce and Industry, and also pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK ).
This was contained in a statement signed by Chief of Staff to the Speaker Haruna Jafaru Sambo and made available to the press in Kaduna on Friday 9th April 2021
He expressed shock over the news of the death of the former minister saying “I was very shocked and devastated when I heard of the death of the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK ).
“Dr Mahmud Tukur was an Honourable Man, his past service to the Nation is well acknowledged.”
Zailani prayed Allah to forgive late Dr Mahmud Tukur, grant him eternal rest in Aljannar Firdaus and give the family, the fortitude to bear the irreplaceablele lost.
Dr Tukur served as minister during the military government of Muhammadu Buhari. He is believed to have remained close to Mr Buhari, Nigeria’s current democratic president.
Mr Tukur was also the first vice-chancellor of the Bayero University, Kano. A businessman, Mr Tukur sat on the boards of many organisations and businesses.
