Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA)Kaduna has conducted Matriculation Ceremony for 541 cadets of 72 Regular Course of the institution, an event which marks the formal induction of the cadets into various degree courses in the Academy.
The matriculation Ceremony which took place today at the NDA Auditorium, Afaka, has 64 cadets from the Faculty of Engineering, 113 cadets from the Faculty of Science and 197 cadets from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences were administered the Matriculation Oath and admitted into various degree programmes in NDA. Likewise, 122 cadets from the Faculty of Military Science and Interdisciplinary Studies and 45 cadets from the Faculty of Management Sciences were also conducted through the exercise and inducted into various degree programmes in their various faculties.
The Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General Sagir Yaro, while declaring the event open, charged the cadets to display a high level of seriousness in both academic and military training during their stay in the Academy, while also assuring them that NDA will provide all they needed to succeed in their training.
Addressing the cadets during the convocation ceremony, the Academy Provost, Professor Isa Garba, congratulated the newly-admitted cadets for successfully scaling through the very rigorous selection process required to gain admission into the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy, Africa’s leading military university. He further encouraged the cadets to be steadfast and work hard to achieve success in both military and academic courses.
While delivering his presentation titled ” Role of Military Personnel in Tackling Contemporary Security Challenges” the Guest of Honour at the 9th Matriculation Ceremony for Cadets of 72 Regular Course, Air Vice Marshal Muhammed Ndatsu Umaru (Rtd), challenged the cadets to put in their best and equip themselves with the adequate skills necessary to becoming professional and efficient officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces. AVM Umaru disclosed that fighting insecurity effectively requires adequate resources and the right manpower to be put together and steered in the right direction. He averred that everyone must play their part effectively and with a high level of professionalism for the current security challenges in the country to be surmounted.
