The former Emir of Maru in Zamfara state, Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ibrahim has drugged the Inspector General of Police lGP Muhammad Adamu and five others to court for alleged illegal detention and defamation of character.
Ibrahim was removed by Zamfara state government last year for alleged aiding and abating banditry in his domain.
The Emir who filed the suit at the Federal High Court Gusau, was seeking for N6.5 billion as damages for his illegal arrest, detention and defamation of character.
Speaking to newsmen after the court hearing on the matter the Counsel to the applicant, Barrister Abubakar Salisu said the other five respondents in the suit include Director General State’s Security Service, Commissioner of police Zamfara state, Assistant Director, State security Service Gusau and Secretary to Zamfara state government, Alhaji Bala Bello Maru.
Salisu said after hearing the case, the Presiding Judge, Justice Fatima Murtala Aminu transferred it to Zamfara state High Court for determination.
“We are going to consider this ruling. We are going to study it very well in order to decide which line of action we are going to take”, Salisu said.
The emir after his removal as an Emir of Maru by Zamfara state government last year for alleged aiding and abating banditry was kept in Zamfara Government House for 11 months.
