ZMSG set up 5 Man Commission of Enquiry C’ttee on missing of over 107b during Yari’s administration

The Zamfara State Government has constituted 7 Man Commission of Enquiry who will investigate how the sum of over N107 Billion missing in the name of awarding some contracts during the administration of Former Goveronor Abdulaziz Yari between 2011 to 2019.

This was announced by the State Deputy Goveronor, Mahadi Aliyu Gusau on the outcome of the state executives Council meeting held at Government House Council Chambe in Gusau the state Capital wednesday.

According to him, the council meeting was chaired by the State Goveronor Bello Mohammed Matawalle in which they observed serious over invoicing to the tune of over N107 Billion in the name of awarding contracts for the last eight years.

“We observed that there are some contracts which was awarded by the former Goveronor Abdulaziz Yari, few weeks to the handing over the affairs to the administration of Goveronor Bello Mohammed Matawalle particularly the state University project which was abandoned by the contractor handling the project after paying almost 90 percent of the amount to him”. He said.

The Deputy Goveronor stated that, the committee is headed by the former chief judge of Katsina State, Justice Abdullahi Yusuf with four other members which included, Barr. Aliyu Salihu, Malam Aliyu Modibbo, Barr. Musa Garba and Arc. Umar Ya’u, saying other members may soon be coopted to help the committee in that direction.

According to him, the Council meeting also directed the contractor handling the state University contracts to go back to side with immediate effect, considering the fact that about 80 percent of the down payment was given to him by the previous government but abondoned the project.

He said, the state executives Council have resolved to write an Executive letter which will be served to President Muhammadu Buhari, Inspector General of Police, the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria and United Bank for Africa UBA, on the matter for necessary action.
