The All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA governorship candidate in the 2019 general elections in Zamfara State, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi has raised alarm over what he described serious danger and security breach by some of the political elites of the All Progressive Congress APC in Zamfara who wanted to make sure the issue of banditry in the state has return into the state.
Shinkafi made the observation at a press conference in his residence in Gusau Thursday, calling on the Inspector General of Police, Director General of State Security Service and President Muhammadu Buhari on the need to rearrest Alhaji Abu Dantabawa and 17 others who was arrested by the state police command recently alledged to be meeting with some leaders of repentant bandits with a view to entice them with monetary and other incentives to go back to the Forest and return to the dark days the state found itself for time immemorial.
“The arrest of Abu Dantabawa and 17 others on the 12/09/202, by the Commissioner of Police Usman Nagoggo was based on an intelligent driven reports and proactive measures taken by the Police to curtail any act of banditry and related criminality in the state”. He said.
He described the APC starlwart Abu Dantabawa and 17 others as a threat to security situation in Zamfara State, hence the need for apprehending them by the IG, investigate and prosecute them for their dastardly acts to become deterrent to others.
Shinkafi suggested that, action must be taken as quickly as possible by all the relavant security authorities against Abu Dantabawa and 17 others who were released by the state police Commissioner after threatened him by the APC starlwarts who attack the state command under his watch through unauthorized demonstration recently.
He lamented how banditry turned Zamfara State to comatose in which he said, over 8000 people killed, thousands of children turn to ophans, thousands of women have turn to widows, hundreds thousands of people rendered homeless for the last eight years.
“The IGP, Muhammad Adamu, DG SSS and other relavant security agencies should trace whereabout of Abu Dantabawa and his people whose all indications shows that they are trying to desrupt the current peace we are enjoying under the leadership of Goveronor Bello Mohammed Matawalle’s administration as a result of the peace reconciliation process initiated by his administration since he came on board as Governor of Zamfara State”. Shinkafi said.
He challenged APC in Zamfara sponsored by the former Goveronor Abdulaziz Yari for trying to desrupt the relative peace the good people of the state were enjoying by conniving with criminals conveying arms and ammunition into the state to continue killings innocent people.
Shinkafi called on parents not to allow their children embarking any form of political thuggery or to be use by unpatriotic policians to cause unrest in the state, urging Security Agencies not to relent their efforts in tackling political thuggery and ensure those behind are prosecuted irrespective of their political affiliation in the state.
He commended the Zamfara State Government under the leadership of Goveronor Bello Mohammed Matawalle for bringing peace in the state as a result of peace reconciliation process with bandits and state government, describing the initiative as welcome development.
