The Zamfara State Police Commissioner, Cp. Usman Nagoggo said, the peace reconciliation between Zamfara State Government, security agencies and bandits started since 2016, when he was the Deputy Commissioner of Police, incharge of Administration in which he described Zamfara peace accord process been initiated by the state government under the leadership of Goveronor Bello Mohammed Matawalle as the most successful initiative.
The Zamfara Police Boss stated this while addressing Newsmen Thursday at the state command headquarters in Gusau, the state capital.
Nagoggo condemned the movement by the opposition party to desrupt the peace dialogue process in the state which led to the arrest of APC stalwart, Dantabawa and 17 others by the police as a result of the credible intelligence Information available to the command that Dantabawa and 17 others are holding a meeting on how to entice them with money to return to the dastardly acts in the state.
“On the 12th September, 2020 the Police on intelligent and credible information got wind that certain individuals are holding a meeting with some leaders of repentant bandits with a view to entice them with monetary and other incentives in order to go back to the forest and return to the dark days the state found itself for time immemorial”. He said.
Nagoggo further noted that, in 2016, he chaired a Desamerment and Amnesty Committee with First Class Emir in the state as a member in which several arms and ammunition which was recovered from the repentant bandits particularly from Buharin Daji loyalists and handed over to the committee under his chairmanship, wondering why at that time, the opposition party were praising him as a heroes and now critizing the current administration effort in mitigating the banditry in the state for nothing.
He warned that the command will take a decisive action against anyone found trying to cause unrest in the state politically irrespective of his or her background in the state.
“My aims is to make Zamfara State zero crime free soon and henceforth, anyone or group of people trying to cause unrest, breaching law and order in the name of politics or any ideology,will faces the music no matter how highly status he may be in the state”. Cp. Nagoggo said.
Nagoggo assured people of the state that, the Police under his watch, will remain resolute to protect lives and properties, fight against criminals until a relative and permanent peace restored to the state, urging them to support the command with credible Information about criminals hideouts for prompt action.
