Zamfara APC Chieftain sets to take Zamfara govt, Police Commissioner to court over arrest and missing N20 m.

Zamfara APC Chieftain Alhaji Abu Dan Tabawa sets to drag Zamfara State Government and the state police Commissioner to court for arresting and detening him along with 17 others for over 10 hours without a formal arrest warrant.

Dantabawa stated this Monday while breafing Newsmen in Gusau, saying the action taken by the Zamfara State Government in collaboration with the office of the state Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagoggo last Sunday is purely politically motivated.

He said he has already written a petition to the Inspector General of Police, Director General, State Security Service and all the relavant authorities on the matter for necessary action.

He accused the police who for illegal trespass into his personal house and arrested him without authorized arrest warrant, adding that his N20 million was also missing during the invasion by the police in his residence shortly after arresting him meant for palliatives to Victims of flood desaster in his village.

“It is a strange thing to me, how police detained me and 17 others and latter released us unconditionally, that is why I said, it is purely political and we must fight for our legitimate right by taking a legal action against the state government and the Commissioner of Police who are perpetrators of the act”. Dantabawa stated.

Reacting to the Dantabawa’s allegation, the Zamfara State Police Command Public Relations Officer Sp. Muhammad Shehu stated that the arrest of Alhaji Habu Mohammed Dantabawa and 17 others by operatives of the command on Saturday 12th September, 2020 was not politically motivated.

Shehu described the arrest as an intelligent driven and proactive action by the state police command to prevent a possible breach of public peace and ensure that the state continue to enjoy the relative peace that is been enjoying in the recent time, adding that, the arrest was carried out in the overall interest of public peace, public security and public safety.

Also reacting to the allegation by Alhaji Abu Dantabawa, against the state government, the Director General Press Affairs to office of the Goveronor Bello Mohammed Matawalle, Yusuf Idris Gusau described the allegation as baseless and malicious, capable of damaging the image of government of Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle
